Ecuador remains outright $4.80 favourite in 2016 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of clear market mover Bull Point ($5) and Nancy ($5.50).

Will Ecuador justify favouritism and win the 2016 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Ecuador ($4.80)

A strong and consistent performer for Gai Waterhouse, Ecuador is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from his first-up run a fortnight ago and will be tough to beat in the Newcastle Newmarket Handicap from barrier 6, with Blake Shinn in the saddle. Resuming in spring for second in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m), Ecuador progressed to fourth in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) before producing arguably a career-best performance to date to finish second behind Winx in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m). Ecuador has plenty of experience at Rosehill Gardens and represents terrific value at current Newcastle Newmarket Handicap odds.

2nd

Amovatio ($12)

Consistent five-year-old Amovatio has been confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman in the 2016 Newcastle Newmarket Handicap and should have no issue carrying only 56.5kgs. Capping a strong autumn and winter campaign with success in the Listed VRC-CRV Winter Championship Final (1600m), the Al Maher gelding resumed in October for success in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m) but failed to make much of an impact in his next two starts. Having turned up when sixth in the Listed National Sprint (1400m) first-up a fortnight ago, Amovatio is more than worth consideration for a bet at current Newcastle Newmarket Handicap odds.

3rd

Bull Point ($5)

Bull Point will carry winning form into the Newcastle Newmarket Handicap but will need plenty of luck in running after drawing a wide and somewhat awkward alley. Posting four wins and seven minors through a twenty-four start career that has included stints under the guidance of Gai Waterhouse, Chris Waller and Tony McEvoy, the Fastnet Rock entire debuted for David Vandyke for eleventh in the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) but responded in the best way possible for success in the talent-rich Gardenia Handicap (1600m) last time out on February 6th.
